Keeping the club posted

The club has two ways to reach members. Each solves a different job.

Posts

The club’s own notice board — in the app and in the Console. Every member can post text and an image, comment and like. Good for the start of a season, house rules, photos from the night, or a write-up afterwards.

Each tournament also has its own posts tab, so the chatter around one particular tournament stays collected there. Tournament posts are visible to every member of the club.

Worth knowing:

• New posts notify members in the app. Comments notify only the person who wrote the post.
• Administrators can pin a post to the top, lock its comments, or delete content.
• The latest post shows on the app home and on the club overview in the Console, so it is easy to catch.
• If you see something that doesn’t belong, you can report it — see Reporting and blocking.

Use posts when the content is still worth reading a week later — what used to live in club news belongs here now.

Club email

Email sent from the Console, either free text or from a template you have saved. The club can send from DealMeIn’s standard sender or from its own email address — the setup, and what happens with members who opted out, is in Club email.

Two things to know:

• Members who have opted out of email, and members with no email address, are skipped automatically. The Console tells you how many before you send.
• If you edit a template just before sending, the text goes out as it stands — but the change is not saved back to the template unless you save it.

Email notification when a tournament opens

When you open a tournament for sign-ups, you can tick Send email notification in the same dialog. The text comes from the club’s template, where [name] is replaced with the tournament name and [time] with the start time — tailor it once and you never write that weekly invitation again.

Whether the box starts ticked or not is up to the club’s Notification defaults (under Settings in the club menu). That is also where you decide which other notifications new tournaments start with.

Which should you use?
